Terms of use

Beta: test money only. No real funds move yet.
1. What CafonaPay is
CafonaPay (cafonapay.com) is a payment and financial management platform: a money plan, read-only views of your own accounts, receipts, tontine circles, transfers between members, payment requests, fundraisers and payments to community organizations.
CafonaPay is in beta. It does not take deposits, and it is not yet a registered money services business or payment service provider. During the beta, every balance is test money: no real funds are collected, held or paid out, and balances have no cash value. Features that would hold or move real money will only open through licensed partners.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 years old, give accurate information and keep your password (and your authenticator app, if you turn on two-step sign-in) to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
Tell us right away at business@cafona.ca if you think someone else has used your account. You can sign out other devices at any time from Me › Security.
3. Circles and fundraisers
A circle organizer sets the amount, frequency, size and order of turns. Members agree to pay their share each turn. CafonaPay records contributions and releases each pot automatically once every member has paid, but CafonaPay does not guarantee that members will pay.
Fundraiser owners must describe their purpose honestly and use the money for it. CafonaPay may close a fundraiser that appears misleading or unlawful.
4. Receipts and certificates
Every money movement gets a receipt sealed in a public SHA-256 hash chain, and circles and fundraisers can produce a certificate of collection. These make records tamper-evident and easy to check. They are not a notarized act, an audit opinion or a legal attestation.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use CafonaPay for anything illegal, for fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, or to harass anyone. Do not try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or access accounts that aren't yours.
6. Fees
Personal circles, transfers and fundraisers are free during the beta. Organizations that accept payments see the merchant fee before each payment. Fees during the beta are test money too.
7. Changes and availability
The beta may change, pause or reset test balances. We'll tell you in the app before material changes to these terms take effect. We work to keep the service available but don't promise it will be uninterrupted.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, CafonaPay is provided as is during the beta, and our liability is limited to direct damages caused by our fault. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
